I took the reference photo for this painting the first time we ever saw the house we eventually bought and currently live in. It was a beautiful October afternoon. Seeing this view of the pond and realizing that it could be ours had us ready to purchase the home before we went inside. We often show this picture when telling the story of how we came to live here. Its a cherished memory and I loved being able to recreate it in pastel!
