Pachita

This painting is a metaphor depicting the inside and outside in both a literal visual sense and in an exploration of thoughts around aging, isolation, and how the pandemic has affected the lives of everyone. What has it been like for us to be isolated as a result of the pandemic or as a result of age? I wanted to contrast the lively action-filled hot sunny day with the cooler quiet interior of solitude. The contrast of vibrancy with the decay of growing older. It was important to have reflections from the outside leak into the room and highlight the woman. I hope the viewer will consider and expand on these thoughts when they see the painting.
