This artwork was inspired by a picture I took when meeting my 2-week-old puppy for the first time. I was influenced by the techniques of pointillism and color layering pioneered by Vincent Van Gogh, in the way that I approached highlighting the range of colors discernable only by my eye in the reference photo. I used chalk pastels on grey-blue paper due to the paper matching the background of the reference photo and the pastels' ability move and cover a wide area.
