Just after the snow stopped falling I was struck by the monochromatic scene of the grey day and snow covered ground and trees broken only by the weathered color of the red barn. Wanted to try capturing the feeling of a stark cold world using only my lightest lights and the sense of being alone in the quiet of this natural scene. I intentionally let some of the sanded paper show through on the barn in order to create the weathered look. I also did a lot of editing of the tree branches since there were too many and simply used a neutral color to suggest the smaller ones.
